Counters are chosen to match the range of production count desired by the customer.  Depending on the approach used to control production, the maximum count of 99 may be appropriate to cover the production in an hour, a shift, a day, a 24-hour period or longer.  Counters with maximum counts up to 99,999 are available.

An event counter accumulates the total number of tasks completed based on a manual or automatic switch closure.  No timing or other programming is included.
